Manuela Igel, Lic. Ac

"I believe the healing relationship is huge part of getting better. People get acupuncture for many of the same reasons they would seek out help from an MD. The best part of my job is that I get to spend a lot more time with my clients than MDs. This enables my clients to talk, feel heard, learn, and also have time for rest and healing to occur."

Manuela is a Licensed Acupuncturist with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and holds Diplomate status with NCCAOM. She graduated with a double major in Psychology and Sociology from U. Mass, Boston in 2008. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree through a 4 year program in Chinese & Japanese Acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture (now known as the Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences) in 2012.

Manuela has been practicing acupuncture for over 7 years. Shortly after graduating from NESA, she practiced at Healthworks Fitness in Chestnut Hill, and Renew Bodywork Center for Wellness in Watertown. She then ran a private practice in Arlington and Belmont. In addition, she has worked as a teaching assistant at NESA, instructing first year students on needling techniques and other tools used during treatments. After becoming a mother in May 2017, she joined Water House Wellness.

She decided to study acupuncture after receiving treatments herself and falling in love with this time-tested, ancient medicine. She was discouraged with the options Western medicine had to offer for her menstrual and digestive issues and wanted to explore a more holistic approach. After receiving a series of treatments, she was thrilled to find out how much acupuncture helped with not only the two issues she was getting treatment for, but so much more. Two added benefits were that her anxiety went down and her sleep and energy improved.

Manuela’s healing philosophy is rooted in her passion for a holistic approach to wellness. She believes everyone’s body is unique, beautiful, deeply inter-connected and has an innate ability to heal itself given the right tools. She works with her clients to help them restore their body’s natural balance with regular acupuncture treatments and personalized lifestyle recommendations that focus on food as medicine and healthy living. Manuela was trained to be a generalist and is able to treat a broad range of conditions. However, over the last few years, she has had success specializing in digestive issues, low energy, headaches/migraines, sleep issues, and women’s health and fertility.

Manuela spent her childhood in France and Venezuela and has lived in the Boston area for almost 20 years. She loves the outdoors, cooking and eating well, and going on adventures with her husband and son.

"the way acupuncture works is by boosting your own body’s ability to heal itself."
