Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a widely recognized, ancient and healing practice used often as a part of a holistic healthcare routine in which stiffness and pain are released in the body through the gentle and repetitive manipulation of muscles and joints across the back, legs, arms, and scalp. During massage therapy, a massage artist will use their hands in kneading, tapping, and rubbing patterns across the surface of the skin in an effort to stimulate circulation and relieve points of tension and stress. The use of physical touch in massage therapy causes the heart rate and breathing to slow down, blood pressure and the production of stress hormones to fall, and raises the level of serotonin in the brain which protects against stress and causes an emotional lift.

Chronic pain
Headaches
Decreased mobility
Spasms
Fatigue from exercise
Fibromyalgia
Whiplash
Low back pain

Stress & Anxiety
Massages are often used alongside more typical healthcare practices, as a complementary and preventative measure. Their benefits include the relief of stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, cancer-related fatigue, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, low back pain, and more.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a noninvasive holistic medical system used to diagnose and help people get well and stay healthy. Your acupuncturist will insert fine, sterile needles at specific acupoints on the body in order to activate the body’s Qi, promoting the body’s natural healing ability. Qi, also known as vital energy, flows throughout the body along specific pathways (meridians), protecting it from pain, illness, and disease. There are fourteen main meridians, each connected to specific organs. Meridians transport Qi to bring nourishment and energy to the cells, organs, glands, tissues, and muscles in the body. When Qi is blocked, the body does not receive the nourishment it requires to function optimally. If Qi is blocked excessively, or for a prolonged period of time, illness, pain, or disease can set in. The health of a person is determined by the quantity, quality, and balance of Qi. Acupuncture enhances your body’s immunity, emotional well being, ability to recuperate, and can improve overall function and well-being.
Acupuncture is an effective in the treatment of a wide range of medical conditions including, but not limited to:
Abdominal pain
Cancer pain
Chronic gastritis
Morning sickness
Diabetes mellitus
Earache
Female infertility
Fibromyalgia
Headache
Insomnia
Knee pain
Low back pain
Nausea and vomiting
Neck pain
Sciatica
Sprain
Stiff neck
Stroke
TMJ dysfunction
Ulcerative colitis

Sauna & Deliberate Heat Exposure
Sauna use shows increased secretions of toxins, including mercury in one study, cardiovascular benefits in another and hormone and glucose balance in another. There are so many reasons to add deliberate heat exposure to your wellness routine other than getting a good sweat in.
The short term benefits of better sleep through a decrease in body temperature are enough to try the sauna at night. If you are having trouble sleeping, there is good research that going from a warm temperature to a cold temperature can help you sleep. Ideally, your bedroom is below 68 degrees and your body being warm getting in that cool bed will help your body's natural tendency to shed heat while you are sleeping.
The other sauna benefits are numerous: infrared therapy promotes detoxification and shows a decrease in LDL cholesterol and decreases inflammation and oxidative stress.
Our sauna is an intimate setting to restore and is available à la carte or added to another treatment or package.
Helps detoxify the body of heavy metals
Balances hormone and blood sugar/ glucose
Decreases chances of death from cardiovascular disease
Relaxing and aids in calming the nervous system
Regular sauna time has been described as reducing headaches when combined with hydration and sleep.
Amma
Amma is a form of bodywork rooted in Chinese Medicine. The treatment combines therapeutic pressure (can be quite deep or very light completely depending on the needs of each clients) with acupoint manipulation (this is hands-on; no needles involved). Like acupuncture, Amma is a form of holistic care that uses Chinese Medicine theory. It can be used to help address a wide range of conditions, as well as treating preventatively.
Depending on the wants and needs of the client, Cupping or Gua Sha may be an addition to Amma Therapy.
What does Amma feel like?
The Amma Therapy technique is similar to other styles of bodywork/massage in that it is a fully hands-on treatment. The hand techniques used in Amma Therapy involve a rhythmic, circular pressure applied with the thumbs, fingers, or hands. This rhythmic motion helps to move the body's Qi. The other main element of the Amma technique is acupoint stimulation. Amma Therapy uses the same theories and point system as acupuncture, but no needles are used. Instead of using needles the Amma Therapist will apply pressure to points with the fingers. Point stimulation also accesses and addresses the Qi of the body. The word Qi can be translated as "life-force", and has much clinical relevance in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In terms of TCM, Qi can be thought of as the driving force behind all function and physiological process.
Amma is performed without oil or lotion. The client is typically undressed and draped under a sheet and blanket as with other types of bodywork, but may also wear loose clothing if preferred since nothing is applied to the skin. The pressure used is typically moderately deep, but can range from extremely light to quite deep, depending on the wants and needs of the client. Amma Therapy traditionally involves a front and back, head to toe treatment. TCM is very holistic; the whole body is understood as working together as one unified whole.
Sound Baths & Meditation
We have a larger but intimate treatment room that we use for meditations that holds our entire company or more (about 30 people!) but we have been using for smaller 6-8 person sound baths and meditations.
Our large gong sits at the center and there are yoga mats, blankets, bolsters and cushions depending on how you like to rest or sit.
Mindfulness meditation is a practice with a lot of scientific attention from the neurology and psychology communities. It has been touted to help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties and help sufferers manage grief and depression.
Mindfulness and meditation is a non-religious practice that can be used in any moment to bring you back to the present moment. We “are here, now,” as the saying goes.
If you have never practiced before, you can expect a relaxed and non-judgmental environment. Unlike ashrams and meditation centers, we do not have a wardrobe or a posture that needs to be adhered to. Merely show up, sit or lay down and be with yourself.
Mindfulness meditation is known to have many benefits such as:
improved self-control
increased objectivity
increased affect tolerance
enhanced flexibility
equanimity
improved concentration and mental clarity
increased emotional intelligence and the ability to relate to others and one's self with kindness, acceptance and compassion
Orthopedic Massage
Orthopedic Massage is similar to a firm pressure massage and a sports massage, but it differs in that the provider has a larger tool kit of techniques to address soft tissues concerns. Orthopedic massage works by manually manipulating muscles, ligaments, and fascia to break down adhesions, reduce muscle tension, and optimize movement by enhancing blood flow and reducing pain, thereby allowing for greater range of motion and improved muscle performance in the affected area; essentially, it helps tissues move more freely and function optimally.
Key points about soft tissue mobilization and improved function:
Breaking adhesions:
The primary goal is to break down scar tissue and restrictions within the soft tissues that can limit movement and cause pain, allowing for smoother muscle gliding and joint mobility.
Pain relief:
By addressing tight muscles and trigger points, soft tissue mobilization can significantly reduce pain, allowing for better functional activity.
Improved range of motion:
By releasing tension in muscles and fascia, soft tissue mobilization can increase joint mobility and flexibility, enabling a wider range of movement.
Enhanced blood flow:
Manual techniques can stimulate circulation to the treated area, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.
Muscle activation and coordination:
By addressing muscle imbalances and restrictions, soft tissue mobilization can improve neuromuscular control and optimize muscle recruitment patterns.
Common applications of soft tissue mobilization:
Post-injury rehabilitation:
To manage soft tissue injuries like muscle strains, ligament sprains, and tendonitis by promoting healing and restoring function.
Chronic pain management:
For conditions like fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, and repetitive strain injuries where muscle tension and trigger points contribute to pain.
Performance enhancement:
Athletes can benefit from soft tissue mobilization to optimize muscle function and prevent injuries.
Different techniques used in soft tissue mobilization:
Friction massage: Applying pressure across the grain of muscle fibers to break down adhesions
Graston technique (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization): Using specialized instruments to identify and treat fascial restrictions
Muscle energy techniques: Utilizing voluntary muscle contractions to stretch tight muscles
Stretching: Applying sustained tension to lengthen muscles and fascia
Reiki & Craniosacral Therapy
Energy focused healing modalities bring bodywork and presence and relationship with your practitioner into focus.
Our treatments are custom based on the space you are in, in the moment. Each practitioner has a different methodology, approach and background just as our other providers.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle and hands-on, mostly very light touch and rocking to move fluids that affect the central nervous system. Reiki is typically without touch, but some providers do a gentle hands-on technique where their attention focuses on your healing and wellbeing.
When choosing energy work you are choosing to be with whatever arises. It feels like a guided meditation through a loving kindness lens with a guide. For more information, we will connect you with our practitioners who offer consultations.
